The education ministry will disclose the decision on reopening of educational institutions after August 25.

Education Secretary Md Mahbub Hossain said this to the media at the secretariat on Monday. "We usually make an announcement a couple of days before the enforcement of a decision."

"We will state the date for reopening after getting clearance from the education ministry," Mahbub Hossain said.

Asked about the Higher Secondary Certificate (HSC) and Junior School Certificate (JSC) exams, the secretary said the exam schedule will be disclosed two weeks before they start.

"We have completed all the preparations. So, the exams will be held. But it would not be wise to spread a rumour about them."

"We still have not finalised the date of HSC and JSC exams. As thousands of students, guardians, and teachers are involved in the exam process, we have to think about their safety first," the education secretary said.

About 5 crore students and nearly 30 lakh teachers and employees are involved in the education system from primary to higher education.

Also, there are 13 lakh primary schools, about 30,000 secondary educational institutions, 53 public universities and 105 private universities in the country.

All educational institutions remained close since March 17.

The government started broadcasting lessons for school students on Bangladesh Betar and Sangsad Bangladesh Television.

However, many students are not attending classes due to a lack of access to digital devices, costly internet packages, and poor internet connections.

Also, a large number of households do not have televisions.
