77,227 vacant teacher posts in MPO institutions, recruitment soon: Edu minister

Education Minister Ehsanul Haque Milon today (23 April) said there are 77,227 vacant teacher posts in non-government (MPO-listed) educational institutions across the country, and a recruitment circular will be published soon to fill those positions.
He made the statement during the question-answer session in parliament, adding that the Non-Government Teachers' Registration and Certification Authority (NTRCA) will issue the notice and fill the vacancies in phases with qualified candidates
The minister said efforts are also underway to address the shortage of teachers in government educational institutions.
"A list of vacant posts is being prepared and proposals are being sent to the Bangladesh Public Service Commission (PSC). Appointments will be made in the respective institutions once the recruitment process is completed," he added.
He further said that teacher training programmes have been strengthened to ensure quality education.
Subject-based and professional training is being provided to both government and non-government teachers at training institutes located in the capital and other parts of the country, he added.
Milon said the implementation of these initiatives will help ensure quality education for students at the rural level and such efforts will continue in the future.
