EC takes steps to ensure voting rights for prisoners
Ballot papers will be delivered to prisons across the country exactly two weeks before the election

The Election Commission (EC) has included the voting rights of prisoners in its roadmap for the 13th National Parliament elections.
The election roadmap was unveiled today (28 August) by the Election Commission (EC) Secretariat.
Following the EC's approval, EC Secretary Akhtar Ahmed detailed the roadmap's key provisions, including a new measure to ensure that imprisoned citizens can vote.
As part of the plan, ballot papers will be delivered to prisons across the country exactly two weeks before the election, allowing inmates to vote.
The process of preparing ballot papers, handing them over to the prison authorities, casting votes, and returning the ballots to the respective returning officers will all be completed within that two-week period.
