EC picks NCP, 21 other new parties for field verification
The process will compare the information submitted by the parties with on-the-ground realities

The Election Commission has initiated field-level verification of 22 political parties, including the National Citizen Party (NCP), from among the 84 that recently applied for registration.
The process will compare the information submitted by the parties with on-the-ground realities, said a press release of the Election Commission Secretariat today (11 August).
According to the release, the parties are: Forward Party, Aam Janta Party, Bangladesh Ganotantrik Party (BGP), Bangladesh Sanskarbadi Party (BRP), Bangladesh Nezami Islam Party, Bangladesh Samajtantrik Dal (Marxist), Moulik Bangla, Bangladesh Justice and Development Party, Jatiya Janata Party, Janata Dal, Janata Party Bangladesh, Bangladesh Aam Janagan Party, National Citizen Party (NCP), Bangladesh Jatiya League, Bhashani Janashakti Party, Bangladesh Bekarmukto Parishad, Bangladesh Communist Party (Marxist) [CPB (M)], Jatiya Samajtantrik Dal (JSD – Shahjahan Siraj), Jamiat Ulema-e Islam and Nejam-e Islam Party, Bangladesh Bekar Somaj, Bangladesh Solution Party, and Notun Bangladesh Party.
Under election law, a party seeking registration must have a central committee, committees in at least three districts and 100 upazilas, and documented support from 200 voters in each committee.
Additionally, parties that have previously had parliamentary representation or secured at least 5% of votes in the last election are deemed eligible. Other conditions and regulations also apply during the initial screening.
Only registered parties can field candidates under their own symbols in elections.
