DU student harassment: Library staff Arnab suspended
The Dhaka University (DU) authorities have suspended Mostofa Asif Arnab, an assistant bookbinder at the DU library, who was accused of harassing a female student recently.
A committee has been formed to investigate the incident, based on their report, further action will be taken against the accused, said a press release today (8 March), signed by Deputy Director of DU's Public Relations Office Farukh Mahmud.
Yesterday, the student withdrew the case she had filed against Mostofa. She had told The Business Standard that she withdrew the case soon after the accused was granted bail on Thursday and she had received death and rape threats.
DU Vice Chancellor Professor Dr Neaz Ahmed Khan today visited her and assured her that appropriate measures would follow.

Upon inquiring about her well-being, the VC also assured her that her overall safety would be ensured.
During the visit, Professor Sayma Hossain Bidisha, Pro-Vice Chancellor Saifuddin Ahmed, and the proctor, were present, among others.
