DU imposes entry restrictions on 31st night; fireworks, sky lanterns banned
According to a press release issued today (23 December), outsiders will not be allowed to enter the campus from 7pm on 31 December to 6am on 1 January. However, ambulances, doctors, patients, and journalists will be exempted from the restriction.
Dhaka University authorities have announced strict restrictions on entry to the campus on the occasion of 31st night to ensure security and maintain order. The authorities have also imposed a complete ban on fireworks, firecrackers, and the release of sky lanterns within the campus throughout the night.
According to a press release issued today (23 December), outsiders will not be allowed to enter the campus from 7pm on 31 December to 6am on 1 January. However, ambulances, doctors, patients, and journalists will be exempted from the restriction.
During this period, all major entry points to the university– including Shahbagh, Palashi, Doel Chattar, Shibbari Crossing, Udayan School, and Nilkhet – will remain closed to the general public.
Students, teachers, and officers and employees with valid DU ID cards will be permitted to enter. The authorities also said no vehicles other than vehicles with DU stickers and those engaged in emergency services (ambulances, doctors, patients, law enforcement, journalists, and fire service vehicles) will be allowed to enter the campus during that time.
