Dr Enamul Haque joins BIDS as director general

Dr Enamul Haque has officially joined the Bangladesh Institute of Development Studies (BIDS) as its director general (DG) today (20 March).
He is currently serving as a professor of Economics at East West University and is widely recognised for his expertise in natural resource economics, climate change, environmental economics, food and agricultural policy and trade, and capacity building, reads a press release.
Dr Haque has extensive experience in teaching and research, particularly in the fields of climate change, food security, and agricultural policy.
Over the years, he has collaborated with several national and international organizations, including the World Bank, International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN), Save the Children, International Finance Corporation (IFC), South Asian Network for Development and Environmental Economics (SANDEE), South Asian Network of Economic Institutes (SANEI), United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), and German development agency GIZ.
He earned his PhD in Natural Resource Economics and M.Sc in Agricultural Economics from the University of Guelph, Ontario, Canada.
Prior to that, he completed his Master of Social Sciences (MSS) and Bachelor of Social Sciences (BSS) from the University of Chittagong.
Dr Haque has played a vital role in capacity building in Bangladesh and across South Asia, particularly through his advisory contributions to SANDEE.
