Domestic election observers must apply within 10 days of polls schedule announcement
At present, 81 observer organisations are registered with the EC
Any domestic organisation interested in observing the upcoming national election must apply within 10 days of the poll schedule being announced, according to the Election Commission (EC).
In a statement yesterday (11 December), Md Ashadul Haque, assistant director of the EC's Public Relations Wing, said that an organisation wishing to take part in election observation must submit a written application specifying which area or areas it intends to monitor, either centrally or locally. Applications must be addressed to the secretary of the Election Commission Secretariat.
At present, 81 observer organisations are registered with the EC.
Yesterday, Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) AMM Nasir Uddin announced the election schedule, setting 12 February as the date for the next parliamentary election and a national referendum.
