Diplomatic passports of Hasina, her advisers, cabinet members to be revoked
Ordinary passports for these individuals may be issued only after receiving favourable reports from at least two investigative agencies
The government has decided to immediately revoke the diplomatic passports of all members of the recently dissolved National Parliament including those of former prime minister Sheikh Hasina, her advisers, former cabinet members, ministers, members of parliament and officials who were eligible for the passports due to their positions.
The Security Service Division of the Ministry of Home Affairs issued a press release on Thursday (22 August), outlining the guidelines for issuing general passports to those whose diplomatic passports have been revoked or surrendered.
"Ordinary passports for these individuals may be issued only after receiving favourable reports from at least two investigative agencies," reads the release.

The Security Service Division sent a letter to the director general of the Department of Immigration and Passports regarding the guidelines on Thursday.
The red passport is issued to Bangladeshi diplomats, top ranking government officials and diplomatic couriers. Their immediate family members also receive diplomatic passports under different terms and conditions.
In the face of a mass uprising against her government, Sheikh Hasina fled the country and took refuge in India on 5 August.
A day after Sheikh Hasina's fall, President Mohammed Shahabuddin dissolved the 12th Parliament on 6 August.
Subsequently, an interim government led by Nobel laureate Professor Mohammad Yunus was formed on 8 August.
