Dhaka South warns of action if illegal posters not removed
With the public notice now issued, enforcement against violators will accelerate in the coming days, DSCC officials said.
The Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) has issued a public notice directing all individuals, organisations, and institutions to remove illegally installed banners, festoons, posters, advertisements, signboards, and electoral campaign materials within its jurisdiction.
In the notice, issued today (2 December), the DSCC warned that legal action will be taken against those who fail to remove such unauthorised items on their own.
According to the corporation, a large number of banners, festoons, posters, and campaign materials have recently been placed across the city without permission, including on privately owned structures, in violation of the Graffiti and Posters (Control) Act, 2012.
"To ensure a clean and orderly city environment, all unauthorised banners, festoons, posters, advertisements, signboards, and election campaign materials must be removed immediately at the initiative of the concerned organisations, individuals, or institutions," reads the notice. "Failure to comply will result in necessary legal measures."
DSCC officials said the corporation has already begun removing illegally installed banners, posters, and festoons. With the public notice now issued, enforcement against violators will accelerate in the coming days, they said.
The authorities have urged all concerned to promptly clear any illegal campaign materials to avoid punitive action.
The Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) has also launched similar operations and is taking action against violators.
