Dhaka South City Corporation has formed ward-based emergency response teams and activated a central control room to address waterlogging in the city, following continuous rainfall over the past few days.

In a press release issued today (9 July), the city corporation said light rain, accompanied by winds from the southeast/south at 10-15 kmph, may continue in Dhaka and surrounding areas due to a low-pressure system over Gangetic West Bengal and adjoining regions.

The capital and its nearby areas recorded 45mm of rainfall in the 24 hours prior to this morning (9 July), the press release added, citing the Bangladesh Meteorological Department.

Rainfall is expected to persist over the coming days.
