The residents of Dhaka witnessed a heavy rainfall with gusty winds on Thursday afternoon.

"Around 43 millimeter rainfall was recorded in an hour and the gusty winds' speed was 74 kilometer per hour," said Meteorologist AKM Nazmul Hoque of the Bangladesh Meteorological Department.

Trees were uprooted at the capital's Sonargaon signal and Chawkbazar's Madina Pump area due to the sudden storm. But no one was injured.

No other incidents were reported till filing of this report. 

Earlier in the morning, the Met office in its forecast had that there was a possibility of a thunderstorm with gusty wind in Dhaka. 

The forecast also mentioned that the rain or thundershowers may continue for the next 72 hours and the temperature may remain nearly unchanged over the day and night.
