Dhaka North to constructs new connecting road to ease traffic on 60 feet road
As part of the initiative, illegal structures on the northern end of the 60 feet road were evicted this morning

To tackle long-standing traffic congestion in the capital's Mirpur, the Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) has launched a project to construct a new connecting road linking the 60-feet road directly with Mirpur's main road.
As part of the initiative, illegal structures on the northern end of the 60 feet road were evicted this morning (16 October).
DNCC Administrator Mohammad Ejaz, who was present at the eviction drive, said, "No effective measures have been taken to ease traffic congestion on the 60 feet road for the past 17 years. By removing illegal encroachments and starting construction of this connecting road, we aim to reduce public suffering."
He added, "We hope the work will be completed before Victory Day on 16 December, allowing the road to be opened for public use."
Currently, the 60-foot road starting from Bangladesh Betar in Agargaon could not directly connect to the main road from Mirpur 10 to Mirpur 2. Vehicles had to turn onto a narrow two-way street, causing persistent traffic jams throughout the day.
To provide a permanent solution, the DNCC is constructing a new one-way connecting road on the left side, linking the 60 feet road with Mirpur's main road past the Mirpur 2 Post Office. This will allow vehicles to directly enter the main road, easing the congestion.
