Dhaka-13 cracks down on battery-run rickshaws on Bobby Hajjaj's directive
The state minister said initiatives are being taken to identify and quickly resolve problems raised by residents at the town hall meeting.
Authorities today (31 August) conducted an operation in Dhaka-13 to stop the illegal movement of battery-run rickshaws and ease traffic congestion following a directive from State Minister for Primary and Mass Education Bobby Hajjaj, also the lawmaker for the constituency.
A large number of battery-run rickshaws were removed during the operation.
Equipment and electrical connections linked to facilities illegally used for battery charging were also removed, according to a press release from the state minister's office.

It said locals raised complaints about traffic congestion and the unrestricted movement of battery-run rickshaws at a town hall meeting in Dhaka-13 on Saturday (29 August).
Following the complaints, Bobby directed the relevant authorities to take the necessary measures.
The state minister said initiatives are being taken to identify and quickly resolve problems raised by residents at the town hall meeting.
He also said necessary measures will continue to ensure smooth and uninterrupted movement for people in Dhaka-13, while coordination among the administration and relevant agencies will be strengthened to address public concerns.
The state minister's office said today's operation aimed to restore discipline in traffic movement in the area and ensure unhindered movement for the public.
