Parliamentary session resumes with Deputy Speaker Kayser presiding
Parliament today (30 March) has resumed the first session with the agenda including a dedicated question-and-answer period covering several key government sectors.
The session, which started at 3:30pm, was presided over by Deputy Speaker Kayser Kamal, in the absence of Speaker Hafiz Uddin Ahmed.
During the ministerial debate session, lawmakers are set to address inquiries involving the Public Security, Security Services, Planning, Statistics and Informatics, and Implementation Monitoring and Evaluation divisions, as well as the ministries of Foreign Affairs and Chittagong Hill Tracts Affairs.
In addition, the disposal of notices received under the Drawing Attention to Matters of Urgent Public Importance (Rule-71) and the Motion of Thanks on the President's Address will be discussed in today's meeting.
Earlier on Sunday (29 March), Parliament witnessed a fierce debate before fixing 31 March to discuss the July National Charter (Constitution Reform) Implementation Order, 2025 in line with an adjournment motion placed by the opposition leader.
Opposition Leader Shafiqur Rahman gave the notice of adjournment motion on a matter of public importance under the Section 62 of the Rules of Procedure, seeking the adjournment of the business of the House for the discussing summon of the session of the Constitution Reform Council as per the July National Charter (Constitution Reform) Implementation Order, 2025.
