Supporters of Bangladesh Sadharan Chhatra Odhikar Songrokkhon Parishad have staged a demonstration in the capital's Shahbagh in protest of the brutal torture on a Noakhali housewife and recording the video.

The demonstrators blocked the road in Shahbagh, formed a human chain, from where they demanded bringing all the culprits under trial immediately.

"Rape incidents in the country are nothing new. We have to stand against those who are patronising rapists in the country," Dhaka University Central Students' Union vice president Nurul Haque Nur.

The video shows four youths stripping the woman while she was weeping and repeatedly begging them to stop.

The miscreants repeatedly threatened her while recording her during the heinous crime.

The video has triggered mass condemnation demanding capital punishment to the culprits.

The Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) arrested the main accused, along with three other perpetrators.

Prime accused among four arrested

Police have arrested four people, including the main accused Badal.

The Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) arrested the main accused Badal from Dhaka and local Delwar Bahini chief, Delwar with weapons from Narayanganj.

Khaled Ibn Malek, additional superintendent of Noakhali Sadar Circle police, confirmed the matter to The Business Standard.

Md Alamgir Hossain, superintendent of police of Noakhali, said that five different teams have started their operation to arrest others involved in the heinous crime.

What we know so far about the incident

In her case statement, the victim of the Noakhali Begumganj torture case said that the accused tortured her and leaked the video for not agreeing to their immoral proposals.

She also alleged that the accused tried to rape her by tying her husband up, reports the Prothom Alo.

They recorded a video of the incident on September 2 and since then they had been making unethical offers threatening to spread the video on social media.

The woman filed two cases with the Begumganj police station on Sunday in over the incident early September.

District Superintendent of Police Md Alamgir Hossain said that police found about the matter only after the video was spread on social media and they took immediate action.

The victim woman has been rescued and legal action is being taken according to the victim's statement, the SP added.
