DB vows 'all-out action' against criminals during Ramadan
The police unit will conduct special drives to bring the law and order situation under control, says DB chief Rezaul Karim Mallick

The Detective Branch (DB) of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) has announced that it will carry out special drives and take "all-out action" against criminals during Ramadan to ensure security to people.
DMP DB chief and Additional Commissioner Rezaul Karim Mallik made the pledge while addressing a press conference at the DMP Media Centre in the capital's Minto Road today (1 March).
DB is tirelessly working to maintain law and order and alongside regular operations, DB will initiate a special intelligence-based operation during Ramadan, he said.
"DB personnel will go undercover to apprehend criminals," he told the briefing outlining DB's plans to maintain law and order during Ramadan.
Rezaul said, "During Ramadan, people's economic activities increase, especially financial transactions. Banks, insurance companies, and other financial institutions see increased customer traffic. Crowds also grow at railway stations, bus terminals, and launch terminals.
"To ensure that no sabotage occurs in these places, we have intensified our intelligence surveillance."
He also said that DB has increased intelligence monitoring to prevent criminal activities during long-distance journeys.
"Our intelligence reports indicate that most of those involved in theft, robbery, and mugging are between the ages of 15 and 20. Many of them are members of teen gangs. These criminals are being incited by the fascist political party to engage in crimes," he claimed.
The DB chief said, "The joint forces have intensified their operations to maintain law and order, with the military playing a crucial role. We are assisting them with various intelligence reports. The law and order situation is gradually improving, and we hope all will see better conditions soon."
"If anyone is picked up or detained by individuals in plainclothes claiming to be DB personnel, please inform us. Additionally, if you have any information about sabotage attempts, help by notifying DB. The identity of informants will be kept completely confidential," he added.
