Cyclone Bulbul: Govt employees’ holidays cancelled 

The holidays of November 9 and 10 have been cancelled for all the employees of Department of Engineering, Public Health Engineering and local government institutions in 13 coastal districts to tackle cyclone Bulbul.

Also, the employees have been asked not to leave the workplace on those days, according to a gazette published by the Ministry of Local Government, Rural Development and Co-operatives today.  

The districts are Satkhira, Bagerhat, Patuakhali, Bhola, Barguna, Pirojpur, Noakhali, Feni, Lakshmipur, Khulna, Chandpur, Cox's Bazar and Chattogram.

The Ministry of Shipping also cancelled its employees' holidays, including weekly and government leaves for the same days. The ministry also opened a temporary control room for to deal with any emergency situation and ensure smooth communication about the disaster.  

The phone number of the control room is 02-9546072. Joint Secretary of Shipping Monoj Kanti Boral is the in-charge of the room. 

A separate circular has ordered the Local Government's Engineering Department to open a control room to monitor the situation. Besides, field employees were asked to communicate with the administration continuously.  

The Department of Public Health Engineering has been asked to supply adequate drinking water to the shelter centres and coastal areas.
