Cuet students hold mass signature campaign demanding reinstatement of VC
Students at Chittagong University of Engineering and Technology have launched a mass signature campaign demanding the reinstatement of Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Abu Sadat Mohammad Sayem, while all classes and examinations remain suspended today (23 September).

The students gathered on the university campus this morning (23 September) and signed the campaign demanding the reinstatement of the vice-chancellor.
All classes and examinations at the university have been suspended today as part of the students' ongoing protest against the decision to replace the vice-chancellor.

Earlier, students staged protest rallies, sit-ins and human chains against the decision. Yesterday they held a sit-in in front of the university's main gate and announced a boycott of classes and examinations.
The students alleged that the decision to replace Prof Dr Abu Sadat Mohammad Sayem came just 56 days after he assumed office.
They said their movement would continue until their demand for his reinstatement is met. Through the mass signature campaign, the students aim to present their collective views to the authorities and press for his reinstatement.
Meanwhile, the Cuet Teachers' Association held a human chain and rally yesterday protesting the vice-chancellor's replacement and expressing solidarity with the students' movement.
Speaking at the human chain yesterday, Professor Dr Basir Jisan of the Department of Civil Engineering said, "Yesterday, Abu Sadat Sayem Sir attended a meeting at the Ministry of Defence. After leaving the meeting, he learned that he was no longer the vice-chancellor. This is extremely humiliating."
"Abu Sadat Sayem Sir showed us how a university can be taken forward. That is why our students have launched an unprecedented movement demanding his reinstatement. The teaching community has also joined them. We want Dr Abu Sadat Sayem Sir reinstated as vice-chancellor," he said.
