Cucsu polls: 8 RAB teams, undercover intelligence units to ensure security
Eight teams of Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) will be deployed to ensure security during the Chittagong University Central Students' Union (Cucsu) election on 15 October.
In addition, members of intelligence agencies will be stationed undercover at various points across the campus, according to the authorities.
The details were disclosed during a press briefing held in front of the university's Proctor's Office today (14 October).
Lieutenant Colonel Hafizur Rahman, the commanding officer of RAB-7, said, "We will remain on duty throughout the day. If necessary, additional reserve teams will be deployed."
The university's Proctor Hossain Shahid Sohrawardy said, "No one from outside the university will be allowed to enter the campus. Only individuals authorised by the Cucsu Election Commission will be permitted to enter."
The proctor further said, "RAB will serve as a striking force throughout the election period and will remain deployed for at least 12 hours after the result announcement.
"Police will also stay on duty for at least eight hours following the announcement of the results."
