CU issues show-cause notice to Jamaat leader Sirajul over controversial remarks
In a notice yesterday (6 September), signed by CU Acting Registrar Prof Mohammad Saiful Islam, the university asked him to explain his remarks within three working days.

Chittagong University (CU) has issued a show-cause notice to the Jamaat's Hathazari upazila unit ameer Sirajul Islam who recently claimed the institution stood on their ancestral land and described themselves as its "zamindars."
Sirajul also serves as a section officer at the CU registrar's office under the Teachers' Personal Records branch.
In a notice yesterday (6 September), signed by CU Acting Registrar Prof Mohammad Saiful Islam, the university asked him to explain his remarks within three working days.
The controversy stems from a statement he made during a views-exchange meeting near the campus on 4 September.
He said, "Chittagong University stands on our ancestral land. We are the owners of this university and its surrounding areas. We are zamindars, and we will not tolerate anyone interfering with us."
Speaking to The Business Standard, Saiful Islam said, "We sent him a notice asking for an explanation. He is bound to respond. If he fails to do so, the university will take action accordingly."
The Jamaat leader's remarks went viral on social media, sparking outrage among students and drawing widespread criticism online.
