Ctg mayor vows to remove illegal banners, posters from city
Shahdat Hossain announced that in future, advertisements would only be permitted on the city corporation-approved digital billboards, with cloth or plastic signboards banned

Chattogram City Corporation (CCC) Mayor Dr Shahadat Hossain today (13 August) announced a citywide drive to remove illegal banners and posters, vowing to restore the port city's visual appeal.
"Randomly placed banners and posters severely damage the city's beauty," Mayor Shahadat said while joining students in the city's Chawkbazar area to take down unauthorised political and commercial displays.
"I have also urged my party members to refrain from putting them up. Even our acting chairman, Tarique Rahman, has instructed that such practices must stop to protect the cities' aesthetics."
Calling the students' involvement "positive and exemplary," the mayor stressed that maintaining cleanliness was a shared responsibility.
Shahdat Hossain announced that in future, advertisements would only be permitted on the city corporation-approved digital billboards, with cloth or plastic signboards banned.
Violators, he warned, would face action from mobile courts.
Mayor Shahadat said the goal was to build "a clean and liveable Chattogram through unity, not political division."
He also voiced concern over damage to city roads and bridges caused by heavy vehicles, promising necessary steps to address the issue.
