CRP nursing student blockade on Dhaka-Aricha highway lifted after over 3 hours
Students protesting the death of Prottoy Sarkar, a CRP Nursing College student who was killed in a bus accident last Saturday (21 December), withdrew their blockade on the Dhaka-Aricha Highway at 2:40pm after more than three hours.
The students had blocked the highway to protest and press their six-point demands.
They lifted the blockade after local administration and police proposed discussions regarding their demands.

With the removal of the blockade, traffic on the highway gradually began to return to normal.
The protesting students said they decided to withdraw the blockade after assurances from the Savar Model Police Station and the Savar Upazila administration to resolve their issues through discussions next Sunday.
Additionally, they proposed halting the operation of buses of the Tikana Paribahan company on the highway during this period.
Earlier, the students began their protests at around 11:30am today (23 December), which caused severe traffic congestion as vehicles came to a standstill on both sides of the busy highway.
They also called for restoring order to Savar's transport system and providing adequate financial compensation to Prottoy's family, along with measures to preserve his memory.
The students had previously protested by blocking the highway for an hour yesterday (22 December), demanding the arrest and maximum punishment of those responsible for Prottoy's death.
They lifted the blockade after the police assured them of action.
However, they resumed protest this morning with the same demands, Savar Highway Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Sawgatul Alam told The Business Standard.
"We are trying to convince them and normalise the situation," he added.
