Youth shot dead publicly in a crowded area in Savar
The motive behind the shooting remains unknown, and no suspects have yet been identified

A 30-year-old youth was shot dead in public in a densely populated area of Savar on the outskirts of Dhaka last night (19 May).
The incident took place around 9:30pm in the Bank Colony neighbourhood of the Savar municipality, on a road in front of the residence of former lawmaker of Dhaka-19, Dr Dewan Mohammad Salahuddin Babu.
The victim, identified as Md Shahin, worked as an auto painter at a local garage. He was the son of Kabir Hossain of Boliarpur and lived with his family in Savar's Radio Colony area.
Witnesses and locals said Shahin worked at a garage just steps from where he was killed. However, the motive behind the shooting remains unknown, and no suspects have yet been identified.
Savar Model Police Station officers recovered Shahin's body and visited the crime scene shortly after the incident. Investigators reported finding a circular injury mark on the left side of his chest, near the ribs.
CCTV footage from a nearby shop showed a group of pedestrians and bystanders gathering on the roadside at around 9:21pm, looking curiously at something. Moments later, Shahin is seen walking from the opposite side and standing against an electric pole. He then suddenly collapsed onto the street.
Md Ashiq Iqbal, inspector (investigation) of Savar Model Police Station, said, "We have recovered the body and brought it to the station. Efforts are underway to bring those responsible to justice."
