Woman found dead in Gulshan flat
Following an autopsy, the body was handed over to her family today (18 January).
Police have recovered the body of a woman from a rented flat in Gulshan yesterday (17 January).
The body was found in a flat near the Kalachandpur Boro Mosque, confirmed Ali Ahmed Masud, assistant commissioner (AC) of the Gulshan Division of the Dhaka Metropolitan Police.
The deceased was identified as Sadia Akter Mimi, 27. Following an autopsy, the body was handed over to her family today (18 January).
According to police, the victim's family has filed a murder case against unidentified persons.
AC Masud told The Business Standard that Mimi's sister went to the flat after repeated attempts to contact her by phone failed. "With the assistance of the house owner, she forced open the door and found Mimi lying dead. Police later recovered the body after receiving a call to the national emergency service, 999."
He said the body bore injuries consistent with an attack using a sharp weapon.
Preliminary assessment suggests the killing took place sometime between Friday afternoon and Friday evening, said the officer.
