Teenage girl gang-raped in Demra

An 18-year-old girl was allegedly gang-raped on Sunday afternoon after being given sedatives at Demra in Dhaka.

The victim was admitted to the one-stop-crisis centre at Dhaka Medical College Hospital on Monday, police said.

A patrol team of the Demra police rescued the girl at 1:55am on Monday from the catkin field of Konapara area. No case was filed and no one was arrested in this connection until the filing of the report on Monday evening, Officer-in-Charge of Demra Police Station Shafiqur Rahman told The Business Standard.

The girl alleged that two of her acquaintances made her unconscious and four people raped her, he added.

The brother of the victim said that his sister went to visit his elder brother's house at Kadamtali area in the city two weeks back. She went to a fair at Konapara along with her cousin Selim. At the fair, the victim met Selim's frind Alam.

The girl took drinks at the fair mixed with sedatives and fell unconscious. Selim, Alam, and along with few others then took her to the nearby catkin field and raped her.

Dhaka Medical College Hospital OCC Coordinator Dr Bilkis Begum told TBS that the girl was sent to the OCC on Monday at noon. Her forensic examination will be performed today.
