A case has been filed against six individuals for gang-raping a teenager in Chakaria, Cox's Bazar, by the victim's father.

According to the police, among the eight suspects arrested in connection with the incident, four have been identified as involved by the victim. The police have sent these four individuals to court after officially showing them arrested. The remaining four have been categorised as suspected offenders.

Manzur Kader Bhuiya, officer-in-charge (OC) of Chakaria police station, confirmed the information.

"The police are continuing their efforts to apprehend those involved since the incident occurred. Last Monday, three suspects were arrested, followed by five more yesterday (7 January). The four identified by the victim have been included in the case report, while the other four have been sent to court as suspects," he said.

However, the OC has not disclosed which four individuals the victim has identified.

Among the arrested suspects, seven names have been reported. The identified suspects include Mohammad Kajol, 23, Mohammad Bashir, 38, Mohammad Shahjahan, 27, Tajul Islam, 18, Sojib, 25, Chhoton, 25, and Amit Hasan, 25.

Manzur Kader informed that the 15 year-old victim has returned home after receiving treatment at the One Stop Crisis Center at Cox's Bazar District Hospital.

He assured that police operations to identify and arrest those involved in the incident are ongoing.

It is reported that the victim arrived at Badarkhali Station in Chakaria from Chattogram by bus last Sunday night. While waiting for a vehicle to return to her village in Maheshkhali at the eastern end of the Badarkhali-Maheshkhali connecting bridge, she was abducted by assailants who threatened her with a sharp weapon and took her to a nearby secluded area, where eight youths assaulted her.

In response to the incident, protests and rallies demanding the arrest of those involved have taken place at Badarkhali Station, Chakaria Upazila, and in Cox's Bazar town on Monday.
