A Dhaka court has placed a security guard on a three-day remand after he was arrested on charges of abducting a schoolgirl in the capital's Khilgaon area.
Police arrested the accused, identified as Abu Hossain, following a case filed by the girl's father on Thursday (24 April).
Based on the information provided by the arrestee during initial interrogation, police rescued the girl late Friday night.
Confirming the matter, Khilgaon Police Station Sub-Inspector Mahadi Hasan said, "We have arrested the accused Abu Hossain and rescued the victim.
"She has been admitted to the One-Stop Crisis Centre at Dhaka Medical College Hospital for medical check-up."
Further investigations are ongoing, he added.
According to the case statement, Abu Hossain, who was employed as a security guard at the victim's residence, had been harassing the girl during her commute to and from school.
Despite being dismissed from his job after complaints were made to the landlord, Hossain allegedly continued to harass her.
