Second grader strangled to death in Munshiganj, accused arrested

Police recovered the body of a second-grade student, Hossain, aged 7, this morning (25 May), two days after he went missing in Tongibari upazila of Munshiganj.
The accused, a neighbour named Ariyan alias Mahim, was detained and confessed to strangling Hossain to death during interrogation.
Based on the information provided by Mahim, police located the child's body in a jungle near Palashpur Peshkarbari in Dhipur union of the upazila.
Confirming the incident, Tongibari Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Mohidul Islam said, "The body has been recovered and sent to Munshiganj General Hospital for autopsy. The motive will be confirmed after further interrogation."
According to police and local sources, Hossain had gone out to play on Friday afternoon but did not return home. After searching for him, family members were informed that he had last been seen cycling with Ariyan that afternoon.
Upon interrogation, Ariyan admitted to tying Hossain's hands and feet and strangling him. He then left the body in the nearby jungle.
Following the confession, police recovered the child's body around 9am on Sunday from the location identified by the accused.
Hossain was the son of Jewel Miah from Dulihata village in Tongibari upazila and a second-grade student at Arial Government Primary School.
