Police have recovered the body of a schoolteacher from a sublet apartment in the capital's Pallabi area.
The body was recovered around 11am today (17 April), along with a bloodstained hammer beside it, from a house on Road 8, Block D, Section 12 in Pallabi.
The deceased was identified as Firoza Khanam Josna, 65, a teacher at Holy Crescent Ideal School.
Confirming the matter, Pallabi Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Alamgir Jahan said police rushed to the scene after being informed by the building's caretaker and recovered the body from a bed.
"She had visible head injuries, and a bloodstained hammer was recovered from beside the body. It is suspected that she was killed using the hammer," he said.
He added that police are investigating the motive and those responsible for the killing.
According to locals, she lived as a subtenant on the second floor of the building. Another couple lived in the adjacent room, but they had left for their village home yesterday (16 April), leaving her alone in the flat.
