Satkhira man stabbed to death by younger brother over fishing, 3 held

A man was beaten and stabbed to death with a sharp weapon by his younger brother over fishing in a canal in Satkhira's Kalaroa Upazila this morning (5 April).
Police detained three people, who were caught initially by locals, soon after the incident that took place in Boalia village under the upazila's Keragachhi Union at around 7:30am.
The deceased was identified as Mosharaf Sardar, 48, eldest son of late Fazar Ali Sardar of Boalia.
The detainees were identified as Mosharaf's younger brothers Ashraf Sardar, 32, and Sohrab Sardar, 38, and one Shahina Begum.
Ashraf is the one who stabbed Mosharaf in the abdomen with a sharp weapon, leading to his death, according to Kalaroa Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Shamsul Arefin and locals.
Citing locals, OC Shamsul said Mosharaf and his other younger brother Hossain Ali Sardar were preparing to start fishing in a canal near their home in the morning, when Ashraf and Sohrab arrived and strongly opposed.
He said at one point in the altercation, Ashraf beat Mosharaf with a stick, injuring him in the head, and then stabbed him with a knife. Mosharaf was being rushed to Satkhira Medical College Hospital when he succumbed to his injuries.
Hossain also sustained injuries when he tried to protect Mosharaf.
Villagers caught Ashraf and Sohrab when they were trying to flee and later handed them over to the police.
OC Shamsul confirmed they detained three people and were working to catch other suspects over their involvement in the incident.
