Workers Party of Bangladesh President Rashed Khan Menon has been arrested.

The Detective Branch of the Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) apprehended him from the capital's Gulshan today (22 August), Additional Deputy Commissioner of DMP's Media Division Obaidur Rahman confirmed to The Business Standard.

He was later shown arrested in a murder case filed with the New Market Police Station.

He has been accused under Sections 143/147/323/307/302/109/114/34 of the penal code and sections 3/6 of the Explosive Substance Act 1908

Menon is an accused in a case filed with the International Crimes Tribunal over the killing of a college student Alvi in ​​Mirpur of the capital during the recent Anti-Discrimination Movement. He is also accused in a case filed with the Tribunal over others of committing crimes against humanity and genocide during the 2013 Hefazat-e-Islam rally at Motijheel's Shapla Chattar.
