O level student raped, murdered in Kalabagan, 1 arrested

A 17-year-old Mastermind student was raped and murdered when her friend took her to a house for group study in Dhaka's Kalabagan area on Thursday noon.

Police have arrested the victim's boyfriend and three others in connection with the incident. The law enforcers recovered her body from a city hospital.

Police said the victim went to a friend's house in Kalabagan for group study. Next, the student's male friends raped her and took her to the hospital. Doctors informed the law enforcers after the victim had died there.

Dhaka Metropolitan Police Deputy Commissioner (Ramna Division) Sajjadur Rahman said, "We are still not sure about the cause of her death and can figure it out after receiving the autopsy report. However, preparations for filing a case is in progress."

Police recovered the body from Anwer Khan Modern Medical College Hospital and sent to the morgue of Dhaka Medical College Hospital.

Additional Deputy Commissioner of Dhaka Metropolitan Police's New Market Zone Ehsanul Ferdous said, "The police have arrested the main suspect and detained three. However, it is yet to be confirmed whether or not it was an incident of rape. Kalabagan Police Station is preparing to file a case."
