UP member stabbed, two sons shot in Ctg's Lohagara

Unidentified individuals brutally stabbed a union parishad member and shot his two sons in Chattogram's Lohagara early today (12 August).
The attack took place around 12:30am in the Kumiraghona area of Barahatia union.
The victim, Md Rafiq Uddin, 50, is a member of Ward-8 of Barahatia UP and president of the local Manufkir Hat Traders' Association. His two sons, Md Faisal, 26, and Md Mishal, 23, a college student, are receiving treatment at Chattogram Medical College Hospital.
Confirming the matter, Lohagara Police Station Officer-in-Charge Arifur Rahman told The Business Standard, "Police visited the scene upon receiving the report. An investigation is underway, and operations are ongoing to arrest those involved.
"The process for filing a case is also in progress."
Dr Nahid Hasan of Lohagara Upazila Health Complex said, "Rafiq Uddin sustained multiple sharp weapon injuries to both his arms and legs, leaving him in critical condition. Mishal was shot in the eye, while Faisal sustained a gunshot wound to his leg."
According to locals, Rafiq Uddin was returning home from Manufkir Hat on his motorcycle when attackers lying in wait attacked him. Hearing his cries for help, his two sons rushed to the spot, at which point the attackers opened fire on them.
