Man stabbed to death following altercation in Cox's Bazar
After hearing the matter, Jahangir went to Arif’s shop and questioned why his younger brother had been abused.
A man was killed after being stabbed during an altercation over a trivial incident with another individual in Cox's Bazar's Sadar upazila.
The deceased was identified as Jahangir Alam, 45, confirmed Cox's Bazar Sadar Police Station Officer-in-Charge Sheikh Mohammad Ali.
Quoting the victim's relatives, the OC said Jahangir's younger brother went to the accused Arif Ullah's shop to buy cigarettes around 11:30am, where an argument broke out between them. He later returned home and informed Jahangir about the incident.
After hearing the matter, Jahangir went to Arif's shop and questioned why his younger brother had been abused.
At one stage, the two became involved in an argument, which escalated into a physical altercation.
During the incident, Arif allegedly took out a sharp weapon from the shop and stabbed Jahangir multiple times before fleeing the scene.
Locals later rescued Jahangir and took him to Cox's Bazar District Sadar Hospital, where the on-duty doctor declared him dead, the OC added.
The OC said a police team visited the scene after being informed about the incident.
Locals detained two women on suspicion of involvement and handed them over to police, he said.
Police are conducting drives to identify and arrest those involved in the killing, the OC added.
The body has been kept at the Cox's Bazar District Sadar Hospital morgue for autopsy, he said.
