Man injured in alleged shootout at Pallabi real estate office over Tk5cr extortion attempt

A man was injured after a group of unidentified men allegedly fired shots in a real estate office in Pallabi in the capital during an attempt to extort Tk5 crore.
The incident occurred around 5:00pm on Friday (11 July) at AK Builders, located in the Alubdi Tek area of Pallabi.
Confirming the incident, Pallabi Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Shafiul Islam said, "No case has been filed yet over the shooting. No one has been arrested so far.
"We are investigating the incident and trying to apprehend those involved."
During the attack, an official of the company named Shariful Islam was reportedly shot and injured. He is undergoing treatment at the Kurmitola General Hospital.
AK Builders Chairman Kaiyum Ali Khan filed a general diary (GD) with the Pallabi Police Station on Thursday.
In the GD, he alleged that his office was first attacked on 27 June. Unidentified individuals carried out another attack on 4 July. He also mentioned that the extortionists have been issuing death threats.
Kaiyum's son Amimul Ehsan alleged that three weeks ago, a man named Jamil demanded Tk5 crore from his father.
When they refused to pay, the attackers raided the office twice and snatched several items, including CCTV equipment, Amimul said.
He added, "Yesterday, 30 to 40 assailants stormed the office and opened fire. One person was shot and injured."
