Autorickshaw driver found dead with limbs tied, eyes-mouth taped in Chattogram

Police have recovered the body of a man with his hands and feet tied and his eyes and mouth taped in an area under the Khulshi police station in Chattogram city.
The deceased has been identified as Abdur Rahim Babul, an autorickshaw driver. He used to live with his wife in the Devpahar area under Chawkbazar Police Station in Chattogram city. His ancestral home is in the Banshkhali upazila of Chattogram.
"After receiving information in the morning, we recovered the body of an unidentified man. Later, we confirmed his identity through his wife. He worked as an autorickshaw driver and reportedly also ran a business," Khulshi Police Station Sub-Inspector Md Belal Khan told The Business Standard.
SI Belal added, "We suspect that the motive behind the murder was to steal his autorickshaw. His wife is preparing to file a case regarding the murder. Investigations are underway to identify the culprits."
Police also suspect that Babul was killed during an attempt to hijack his autorickshaw. Efforts are ongoing to unravel the full details surrounding the murder.
Locals notified the law enforcers after finding Belal's body on the road near the Segunbagan workshop gate of the Jhautola area at around 9:30am today (12 January).
At the time of recovery, his ace and eyes were found taped and his limbs were tied up.
The body was later sent to the morgue of Chattogram Medical College Hospital for an autopsy. Further details will be available following an investigation.
