Madrasah teacher detained over rape of 12-year-old student in Dhaka

Police yesterday (14 March) detained a madrasah teacher over allegations of raping a 12-year-old student in the capital's Dakshinkhan.
The accused was identified as Yasin Ali, a teacher of Markazus Sunnah Taheria Walia Model Madrasah in the Ashkona area of Dakshinkhan.
Confirming the matter, Dakshinkhan Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Taifur Rahman said a case is under process over the incident.

"When allegations against the teacher came to light, people in the area detained him. Upon receiving information, police brought the accused teacher to the police station," he said.
Investigation is underway and appropriate legal action will be taken against the accused, the OC added.
