Madrasa teacher arrested over rape of 13-yr-old student in Chattogram

Police have arrested a madrasa teacher in Chattogram on charges of repeatedly raping a 13-year-old student.
The accused, Omar Faruk, 32, is a resident of Anwara upazila and teaches in the Hifz department of the madrasa in the city's Bandar area, where the student was enrolled.
The victim's father filed a case with Bandar Police Station last night (27 July).
According to police, the teacher allegedly raped the student on several occasions. The most recent incident reportedly took place on Thursday afternoon (24 July).
Sub-Inspector Farid Ahmed, the investigating officer, said locals detained the teacher yesterday and contacted police.
"Later, a police team arrested him from the madrasa and took him to the police station, where the victim's father filed a case in this connection," he told The Business Standard.
"The accused has been produced before the court today (28 July). The victim will undergo a medical examination tomorrow, and the victim's statement will be recorded as part of the investigation," the SI added.
