Knifepoint robbery on moving bus in Savar, cash, valuables looted

A robbery occurred on a moving passenger bus on the Dhaka-Aricha Highway in Savar last night (24 March), with armed assailants looting cash, mobile phones, and other valuables from passengers.
The incident took place around 8pm on a Shuvojatra Paribahan bus heading towards Manikganj.
Ashulia Police Station Inspector (Investigation) Md Kamal Hossain confirmed that the bus was transferred to Savar Model Police Station as the incident occurred in their jurisdiction.
However, no statement from Savar Model Police Station or highway police was available as of this morning (25 March).
According to passengers, four to five individuals boarded the bus from the Radio Colony area and soon after, held the passengers hostage at knifepoint, demanding their belongings. Among the stolen items was an LED TV.
The robbers later got off near the BPATC area and the driver sped the bus away.
After the robbery, university students on board stopped the bus near Jahangirnagar University and took it inside the campus, suspecting the bus driver, helper, and conductor were involved.
The bus and its staff were later handed over to Ashulia Police Station.
Victim Rabiul, who boarded from Genda, said, "They held a knife to my throat and took Tk14,000 in cash. They also stabbed me in the arm."
He received treatment at Jahangirnagar University Medical Centre.
Another passenger, Mehdi Islam, stated, "One of them held a knife to my throat and took my mobile phone. They also robbed other passengers."
