Jubo Dal activist in Ctg's Raozan shot dead by assailants hiding in graveyard

A Jubo Dal activist was shot dead by unknown assailants who had reportedly lain in wait at a graveyard in Raozan upazila of Chattogram today (25 October).
The deceased was identified as Md Alamgir, 45, son of Abdur Rahim from Chowdhury Bari in East Raozan municipality area.
The incident occurred around 4:30pm in front of Kaykobad Chowdhury Jame Mosque at Charabot Tola under ward-9 of Raozan municipality.
Confirming the incident, Raozan Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Monirul Islam Bhuiyan told The Business Standard, "Alamgir was returning home with his family after attending a programme when assailants hiding near the mosque's graveyard opened fire on him. He died on the spot.
"Initial investigation suggests that the deceased was involved with local Jubo Dal politics. Efforts are underway to identify those responsible," OC Monirul added.
Riaz, one of Alamgir's associates, was also injured in the attack. He has been admitted to Chattogram Medical College Hospital.
Following the shooting, tension gripped the Charabat Tola area. Additional police forces have been deployed to maintain order.
Earlier on 7 October, BNP activist Muhammad Abdul Hakim, 52, a resident of Raozan, was shot dead by armed assailants riding motorcycles in nearby Hathazari upazila of Chattogram.
Since 5 August 2024, at least 17 people have been killed in Raozan in incidents linked to political rivalries, dominance struggles, and extortion-related conflicts.
