Housewife tortured, stripped in front of her children
The victim filed a case under the Women and Children Repression Prevention Act in a court on 5 January

A video of several men stripping and torturing a woman in front of her children after failing to rape her in Hatia of Noakhali went viral on social media.
The victim filed a case under the Women and Children Repression Prevention Act in a court on 5 January this year, reports Somoy TV.
The video shows the housewife is being dragged into a room by a group of men. It also shows another man vandalising furniture of the woman's house with a stick.
According to the case filed in the court, several local people named Zia alias Zihad, Faruk, Enayet, Bhuttu Majhi and others tried to rape the housewife entering her house in the absence of her husband in Adarsh village of Chandandi union of Hatia.
Failing to rape her, they stripped the housewife, tortured her and recorded the video on a mobile phone. They fled after locals started to gather around her house hearing her and the children shouting.
Her husband came at night receiving the news and admitted her to Noakhali General Hospital.
After getting treatment there for two days, the woman went to file a case with the police on 4 January but the police refused to file the case. She then filed the case at the Women and Child Repression Prevention Tribunal-2 court the next day.
The court later directed the Additional Superintendent of Police of Hatia Circle to submit an investigation report to the court within seven working days.
Hatia Circle Additional Superintendent of Police Golam Faruk said he went to the spot on Saturday after receiving a court order.
"The investigation report will be submitted to the court in the next two to three days. Operations are underway to catch the accused," he said.
