Ex-Cox’s Bazar-1 MP Jafar Alam arrested in Dhaka
Jafar, an Awami League leader, was picked up by the detectives from the capital’s Dhanmondi area today

The Detective Branch (DB) of the Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) has arrested Md Jafar Alam, the former MP of Cox's Bazar-1 constituency.
Jafar, an Awami League leader, was picked up by the detectives from the capital's Dhanmondi area today (27 April), according to a statement issued by the DMP media wing.
Jafar was a lawmaker from the coastal district in the 11th parliament. He contested from the same seat as an independent candidate in the 12th national election last year but was defeated.
He is currently the president of the Awami League's Chakaria Upazila unit.
Back in October last year, Jafar and 34 others were indicted in a case filed over an attempt to murder charge at Pekua Police Station.
