Ex-Chhatra Dal activist shot dead in Chattogram's Raozan
The incident occurred around noon in the Shamsher Nagar area of Ward 8 under the Sadar Union of Raozan, said Raozan Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Monirul Islam Bhuiyan

A former activist of Jatiotabadi Chhatradal was shot dead in Raozan upazila of Chattogram today (22 April), just three days after a similar killing in the same region.
The incident occurred around noon in the Shamsher Nagar area of Ward 8 under the Sadar Union of Raozan, said Raozan Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Monirul Islam Bhuiyan.
The victim, Md Ibrahim (26), was reportedly involved in BNP politics and was locally known as a follower of BNP Vice Chairman Gias Uddin Quader Chowdhury.
"The latest murder was carried out under the leadership of a local criminal named Raihan. Ibrahim was shot in the back of the head. He was formerly involved with the BNP's student wing, Chhatra Dal. While it's unclear what his exact political role was recently, he remained affiliated with BNP politics," Raozan OC Monirul told The Business Standard.
According to local sources and police, around 10 to 15 armed assailants arrived in a CNG-run auto-rickshaw, shot Ibrahim in the head, and fled the scene immediately.
Meanwhile, as the assailants were fleeing, they vandalised the house of Abul Kalam at Talukdar Bari in Ward-3 of Kadalpur Union. Failing to find Kalam's son Mannan, they shot his brother, CNG driver Md Naeem, in the leg and knee.
Naeem was initially taken to Raozan Upazila Health Complex and later transferred to Chattogram Medical College Hospital due to the severity of his injuries.
Earlier, on Saturday night (April 19), another BNP activist, Muhammad Manik Abdullah (36), was gunned down in Garib Ullahpara village of Ward 3 in Bagoan Union. He, too, was known as a follower of the same BNP leader.
When asked about a possible connection between the two murders, the OC stated that while the killings may not be directly related, initial investigations suggest both incidents stemmed from internal BNP conflicts.
"We've recovered the body and sent it to Chattogram Medical College Hospital (CMCH) for autopsy. Another youth sustained a gunshot wound to his leg during the same attack and has also been sent to CMCH," he added.
The recent spike in politically motivated violence has sparked serious concerns in the region, particularly regarding tensions within rival BNP factions.
