DNC officer shot in anti-drug operation in Sayedabad

An official of the Department of Narcotics Control (DNC) was shot and injured by drug dealers during an anti-drug operation in Sayedabad in the capital.
The injured official, Md Siddiqur Rahman, is an inspector of the Khilgaon Zone under DNC Dhaka Metro South. He is currently undergoing treatment at Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH).
The incident occurred around 12pm today (2 March) near the railway line behind Sayedabad Bus Terminal.
Confirming the matter, Deputy Director of DNC Dhaka Metro South Md Raziur Rahman said that the department has been conducting a special anti-drug drive across the capital from 1 to 5 March.
"Today was the third day of the operation. After conducting raids at different locations in the morning, the team went to a drug den near the Sayedabad railway line around noon. At that time, one of three drug dealers opened fire on the team. A bullet hit Siddiqur in the leg, causing him to collapse on the spot," he said.
He added that colleagues immediately rescued him and took him to Dhaka Medical. "The bullet entered and exited his leg. Preparations are underway to file a case, and efforts are ongoing to arrest the drug dealer who opened fire," Raziur added.
