Ctg police detain man for selling 3-month-old daughter at Tk50,000 to fund drug addiction
The child has been rescued and returned to her mother.

Police have detained a man in Chattogram's Lohagara Upazila for selling his three-month-old daughter for Tk50,000 to reportedly fund his drug addiction.
The selling of the child and the detention of her father took place in the Akbarpara area under the Sadar union of the upazila on Friday night (8 August), confirmed Lohagara police.
The detained, Miraj Uddin, 30, an auto-rickshaw driver, is the son of the late Hafizur Rahman of the same union.
According to police, Miraj sold his daughter, Jannatul Mawa Mimha, before being reported to authorities by his wife.
Police swiftly conducted an operation and rescued the child from the Paschim Masdiya area and handed her over to her mother.
The child's mother, Asmaul Hosna, told The Business Standard, "My husband is a drug addict and had been threatening to sell the child since she was in the womb."
Arifur Rahman, officer-in-charge of Lohagara Police Station, said, "Upon receiving the news of the child being sold, we conducted the immediate operation and rescued the child. The accused father has been detained, and a case has been filed against him."
Police did not comment on the buyer's identity. The mother has not filed a complaint against the buyer, and the money has reportedly been returned.
