Cigarettes and banned cosmetics worth Tk13 lakh seized at Chattogram airport

Authorities at Shah Amanat International Airport in Chattogram have seized cigarettes and banned cosmetic creams worth around Tk 1.3 million from two passengers arriving from Dubai.
The seizure took place on Sunday (July 20) night following a tip-off. The items were recovered from Md Ariful Islam, a resident of Feni Sadar, and Mosharraf Hossain, a resident of Raozan, who arrived on US-Bangla Airlines flight BS-344.
Engineer Mohammad Ibrahim Khalil, Public Relations Officer of the airport, said a team from the National Security Intelligence (NSI) conducted a search of the passengers' baggage after immigration clearance as they crossed the green channel of customs at around 9:30pm.
During the search, officials recovered 165 cartons of cigarettes valued at Tk 577,500 and 2,076 boxes of banned cream worth Tk 726,600.
The seized goods have been handed over o airport customs authorities.
Both passengers were warned and informed that any similar offenses in the future would lead to fines and legal action.
