Body of missing man recovered from abandoned market in Mirpur
Police said that there were no CCTV cameras in the abandoned market.
Police recovered the body of a man from the ground floor of an abandoned city corporation market beside Paris Road in the capital's Mirpur area yesterday (16 January).
The deceased has been identified as Sharif Ahmed, also known as Suman, 43, who had been missing since 12 January, according to the police.
Confirming the matter today, Pallabi Police Station Inspector (Investigation) Mostafizur Rahman said, "The head was crushed, but no other injury marks were found on the body. We suspect he died at least two days earlier. He may have been pushed from above, fallen, or struck on the head with an object. We are investigating the matter."
He further said that there were no CCTV cameras in the abandoned market.
"The victim hailed from Muladi upazila in Barishal, and lived with his family in Section 11 of Pallabi. He worked at a mobile servicing shop in Mirpur Shah Ali Market," the police official said.
Today, the victim's brother, Said Ahmed Sujan, filed a murder case against unidentified persons with Pallabi Police Station, he added.
