Another arrested over RAB member murder in Ctg's Jungle Salimpur
In a statement, RAB-7 said Ayub Ali, alias Babul Saodagar, was arrested yesterday during a drive in the Loyal Road area of the city.
The Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) has arrested another suspect in connection with a case filed over the killing of a RAB member during an operation in Chattogram's Jungle Salimpur area earlier this year.
In a statement, RAB-7 said Ayub Ali, alias Babul Saodagar, 53, was arrested yesterday (21 June) during a drive in the Loyal Road area of the city.
The statement said Ayub Ali is a resident of Society No 8 in the Jungle Salimpur Chhinnamul area of Sitakunda upazila.
Acting on information that he was staying in the Kotwali area, a RAB team conducted a drive, arrested him and handed him over to Sitakunda Police Station for further legal action.
RAB said he was identified as an accused during the investigation of the case filed on 22 January.
On 19 January, RAB personnel came under attack while conducting an operation in the Jungle Salimpur area. RAB-7 Deputy Assistant Director Abdul Motaleb was killed and several others were injured in the incident.
A case was filed on 22 January under various sections of the Penal Code, including charges of murder, attempted murder, obstruction of public duty, abduction and extortion.
RAB said drives are continuing to arrest other accused named in the first information report and those identified during the investigation.
So far, 29 accused have been arrested in connection with the case.
