ACC Deputy Director Abu Bakar Siddique filed the cases, accusing five individuals in one case and 20 in another

The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) has filed two cases, accusing 25 individuals over the corruption in the construction of FR Tower at Banani in the city.
ACC Deputy Director Abu Bakar Siddique filed the cases, accusing five individuals in one case and 20 in another.
On March 28, 2019, the destructive fire on the eighth floor of FR Tower claimed 25 lives, injuring more than 70.
Following the tragic incident, a number of investigation discovered the tower’s structural fault due to a flawed design and probe committees were formed to identify the persons responsible.
In late May, ACC’s investigation revealed that no building code and regulation of Rajdhani Unnayan Kartripakkha (Rajuk) was followed in the design and construction of FR Tower.
According to ACC reports, the building authority is also guilty of not obtaining any clearance from the Fire Service, the Civil Aviation Authority and the Department of Environment prior to the construction of the 22-storey building.
